THE
MANAGERIAL
LEADERSHIP JOURNEY
RESOURCES
The analogy to the journey Julian often refers his clients to is the epic poem The Odyssey by Homer. The story of the trials of Odysseus as he tries to get home and the challenges once home is an analogy for all our lives. It is no different for the modern day leader. It is a life-long journey and if you as a leader are not growing (just like all living things) you are dying. The Managerial Leadership Journey is about that journey. Each of its chapters represents a milepost along the way. But no sooner do you get to the end than you have to start again. In the spirit of continuous improvement just as you practice it you keep practicing before. Each situation and moment may look the same but there is learning from each. It truly is a journey.
WHAT'S BEING SAID
“Julian’s ability to hone right to the heart of an issue has been something I’ve admired in our many interactions during my long tenure with NWC, and this is demonstrated in this book – a clear, concise, and direct examination of the concepts of Management and Leadership, making his case for the essential powerhouse hybrid of the two. What you will find here is a comprehensive, pragmatic approach which outlines his perspectives not only on managerial leadership, but on the fundamental considerations needed to build an organization and its people to enable its success, its scalable growth, and its ability to meet challenges head on. A crucial message in the book is the importance of managing our managers; this is so often overlooked in leadership development literature. Once established and inculcated throughout the organization, the practices Julian outlines in this book will become critical factors to its continued success, improvement, and expansion.”
